State of the Munion

I didn't set out to create Munuvia. Back in June, after setting myself up with Movable Type, I created a blog for Susie (then a Blogspotter) to play with. I think - the memories have blurred with the distance of time - I think I did this after Susie had a couple of particularly bad days with Blogspot. I made a new blog, and sent an email off to Susie saying, essentially, "If you'd like to play with Movable Type, here's a blog for you."

Three months ago today. (I know, it seems longer.)

Since then, our ranks have swelled with the admission of many fine new bloggers. We've had good times. We've had bad times. We've seen war and hardship. Our server actually crashed once.

When I set up the blog for Susie, I had two choices: I could create a whole new installation of Movable Type, or I could just click the button to create a new blog. The day I chose the easy way was the day Munuvia was created, for with everyone sharing a single instance of MT, Susie could follow the activity log and ping storm anyone who showed up.

And again, sharing one copy of MT let me set up Munuviana, which has grown over the past two weeks to become what it is today: our centre, our heart, our collective brain for when our individual brains don't want to work properly.

Where will we be in another three months time? I have no idea, really; I'm just making this up as I go along. But wherever we go, I hope that you will all go there with me. (Except for you, Collins, you slacker. Post something!)

So here's to you, Susie, loyal first citizen of Munuvia! (Even if you are an Ethel worshipper.) Long may you ping!

Thank you for that touching tribute. I'm still B.C. (before coffee) or I would say something witty and some other word that I can't find in the yet un-coffee-restored recesses of my brain...

If Susie's breathing, she's pinging.

When did Frank J. become "Ethyl"? I dug through some comments and was unable to find the source.

I meant "Ethel". "Ethyl" was probably my subconscious crying out for whiskey.

Jennifer had a poll at her old place on what to call him since he agreed to blogroll her if she stopped calling him monkeyboy.
So Ethel won, but he won't update her link til she stops calling him Ethel.

Blog Wars. *shakes head sadly*

Goes to show that you can't trust a monkey.

War. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing.

Although now he's trying to make me think he'll update it when he gets back from his weekend. I'm not falling for it.

I just don't want to get my hopes up. I've been (sniffle!) hurt too many times!

Yeah, JON!!! (Hint: Dear Jon, People who like football generally watch it. Those of us who don't really follow it would love more stories about broken faces, stupid road construction workers, experiences with Wosrt Purchase...you know...coffee-comin-out-ya-nose-holes stuff. 'Kay?)
Don't worry...I still luv ya! (Even if you haven't posted since God was around 4 years old...)

How long do we have to wait before we can vote Collins off the island?

What a great idea! But I won't be able to set it up for at least (looks at watch) another 8 hours. :p

Some people (Susie, f'rinstance) have already visited the mu.nu forums. I'll add a Munuvia section there for everyone to play in.

What did it do? Exactly?

Umm...I forgot. Something about a session. And it was negative...like a bad session. Or something.

I was actually working on something, so I wasn't entirely focused. If it happens when I try again, I'll let you know verbatim. Sorry. :-(
