Roll Call

My next rocket project is going to be Munuvian related. The basic design is done, and mostly what's left is picking out the name and colors. I'm not real big on flying naked rockets, so mine are almost always nicely finished before making their maiden flight. And that's where I need your help.

I need your color suggestions (I'm leaning toward red nosecone, white airframe, and black trim). Any favorite color combinations are welcomed.

One thing I'd like to do is put everyone's name/blog name/blog address on the rocket, along with the appropriate national flag. For that, I'd like to find out where everyone is from. I'll get down to the state/province/etc level if desired. Actually, it'd be kinda cool to add any other logos you'd like to see (like Daniel's U of Chicago seal, etc).

And I'm aiming to have this ready to fly on the 1st of November. Victor, maybe you and Nic can come to the launch?

Well, salmon, teal and gray are lovely together....
Indiana, USA flag for moi, bitte.

I'd settle for the good ol' stars and stripes...I come from several states. OR the University of Iowa Hawkeye would be cool.

In fact, howzabout black and gold for the colors!

Anything but teal and salmon. :-D

I'm sorry Susie, I should have specified 'guy' colors. Teal is blue, salmon is pink, but gray is a real color. :)

:P

I'd love to come to the launch--I'll discuss it w/ the gf...

Posted by: Victor at September 25, 2003 07:41 PM

Ooh! How about Mookie's monkey?

Posted by: Jennifer at September 25, 2003 07:53 PM

Great idea! I found a hawkeye logo too

Posted by: Ted at September 25, 2003 07:54 PM

Paisley is always tasteful.

Posted by: LeeAnn at September 25, 2003 08:01 PM

Paisley (aka psychedelic sperm) makes it hard to find the rocket when it lands in the meadow. That's why I don't paint my rockets camoflage (well, that and it scares the feds).

Posted by: Ted at September 25, 2003 08:08 PM

I need links to the buttons for Chief Wiggles and Frontline too.

Posted by: Ted at September 25, 2003 08:13 PM

I'm from Atlanta now, but I would much rather prefer my UChicago Seal on there - great idea Ted. Make sure to take the pictures and post them!

Posted by: Daniel at September 25, 2003 08:14 PM

Daniel, I need a link to a good pic or gif of the seal. Any leads?

Posted by: Ted at September 25, 2003 08:18 PM

I can upload a picture of it to Munu or just email it to you. Which would you prefer?

Posted by: Daniel at September 25, 2003 09:05 PM

Yay, Hawkeye!

Posted by: Jennifer at September 25, 2003 09:08 PM

email works :) the collecting of the logos continues. I'm going to add the Brazilian flag in honor of the scientists who lost their lives earlier this year.

Don't forget Australia for Pixy and New Zealand for Cherry!

Posted by: Susie at September 26, 2003 12:39 AM

Paisley is counter-camouflage if used properly: i.e. hot pink and neon orange.

Posted by: LeeAnn at September 26, 2003 12:40 AM

Pixy is Australian? I thought he was a Kiwi too. Cool.

Posted by: Ted at September 26, 2003 01:18 AM

All those upside folks are the same, anyway....:P

Posted by: Susie at September 26, 2003 01:53 AM

I'd like a Purdue logo for me. I'll dig one up and mail it to you.

Cool project!

Oh yeah, I'm in Chicago. Go Cubs!

Pixy is Australian? I thought he was a Kiwi too. Cool.
:p

It's easy to tell the difference. We have killer spiders. They have killer crickets. We have the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. They have Peter Jackson. (Not saying that one is better than the other, mind you.) We have untold millions of sheep. They... oh.

Have to think about the Munuvian flag. It should be blue (yay for blue!) and have the Southern Cross on it (yay for the Southern Cross!), since it's clear from the satellite photo that Munuvia is in the southern hemisphere.

No Union Jack, though. Maybe... Maybe a duck and a rabbit?

Or a sheep.

Posted by: Pixy Misa at September 26, 2003 02:24 AM

A kitten! Our flag requires a kitten! (since the country seems to be kitten-shaped).

Posted by: Susie at September 26, 2003 02:45 AM

Better yet--a VIKING kitten!

Posted by: Susie at September 26, 2003 02:45 AM

:D

It's the "no hands" kitty, actually.

The nohands kitty IS the Viking kitty! Yay! We have a winner! Yay!

Posted by: Susie at September 26, 2003 05:24 AM

<moo>Yay!</moo>

Posted by: Pixy Misa at September 26, 2003 09:58 AM

Come up with a flag for Munuviana too, and I'll put it on there. If Boeing can do it, so can we. I draw the line at selling commercial space though. Maybe. Hmmm... NASCAR does it.

Posted by: Ted at September 26, 2003 12:34 PM

Oh yeah, Pixy. The rocket friend I have down under has done a Collins and is not answering email. That's why I haven't passed on any more info, I didn't forget.

Appearing wise mainly consists of pondering thoughtfully to disguise the fact that you can't remember any more.

Posted by: Ted at September 26, 2003 12:37 PM

This rocket is going to weigh a *ton* with all the painting! Better break out the really big motors, Ted.

Posted by: Victor at September 26, 2003 06:06 PM

...and you need a big empty space on it for Collins.

Posted by: Victor at September 26, 2003 06:07 PM

Dad, Can't u fly on the second?? I have a homecomming on the first!

Posted by: Rachael at September 27, 2003 12:52 AM

The Munuvia flag has to have a baby cow! (mu.nu) or maybe a veal chop.

moo.

Posted by: Tuning Spork at September 27, 2003 06:04 AM

Cow puppies!

Posted by: Pixy Misa at September 27, 2003 06:33 AM

Free Range Veal!

(suggested Munuviana motto)

Posted by: Ted at September 27, 2003 04:01 PM

"Here's the beef."
or
"What's Yer Beef?"

Hmmm...
