Comment Question

This is per a discussion going on with Will Baude -
Is there any way to tie comments to a particular day and not just to a particular post?
Does that make sense what I said?

I don't think so. MT ties comments directly to posts.

Okie doke.

LT Smash posts an "open thread" for people to comment on whatever. You could do something like that. Close comments on the actual posts, then have an "open" one.

But that's stupid. Keep comments open, regardless of what Will says.

But the comments here are listed in chronological order under the heading Recent Comments. Why can't that sidebar be saved as per diem threads? There's gotta be a way!!

Or you could turn comments off and have a web forum instead.

(Whistles innocently.)

Yeah, the Dem blog does the open thread thing also. I'm not such a fan of it. Because then you have a Forum instead of a blog. And I don't have thousands of readers.

What would be the advantages of a forum, Pixy?

Um, it's like, um, different.

I'm setting up a Munuviana forum (quiet, Susie!) and when it's up and running you can have a look. I'll be able to give you a little Nanopundit corner, and Cherry can have a Rambling corner, and so on.

Why would you want to turn off your comments? Was it something I said?
