Radio Blog

I think those of you that know me know that I love my music. And nothing is funner than to share your tunage with others (so they can point, laugh and comment on what a freak you are, but I digress).

In another :: coughcough :: blog :: coughcough :: I would provide a weekly (monthly?) song for download. Well, since I'm now a member of a larger bunch of loverly bloggers, I don't want to do anything that might get me canned. . .or caned. . .so I have to ask:

What about this Radio.Blog? Is this kosher? Can we install it?

I want to be a right and proper Mu.Nu Citizen, yanno.

:: who is suddenly embarrassed and will now sit down and shaddup ::

I've been looking into this for quite a while and have found a couple of issues.

Radio blog is kosher (so to speak) but you have to abide by RIAA regulations for streamed music. More info can be found at the end of this post.

There are also issues with server space and bandwidth but that's Pixy's zone. And I'm not sure what the regional specifics are with the MuNu server.. Pixy? is the box actually in Australia?

I've set up radio blog on my home server and it seems a bit freakin fiddly to set up but is otherwise quite secure, no-one can just download the music so you can't be accused of pirating.

Interestingly enough I was thinking about a very similar system to allow for AudBlogging via email but it's on the shelf for the time being.

Heh. I've had one up for a little while now. You can check out my radio.blog by just going to http://dfmoore.mu.nu/radio.blog/

I'm pretty sure it's kosher as I haven't heard otherwise...

The box is in the U.S. so American laws apply. (It would be far more expensive to host it in Oz, and also slower.)

I haven't looked at Radio.Blog. There are pretty strict rules on this sort of thing, but if it works within those rules then it's fine.
