O.H. M.Y. G.O.D.!!!!!!!

Who the hell turned off Blacklist? I just woke to find 132 comment spam in my mailbox. I don't have enough coffee to get through that much spam. Holy cow. This is the worst I've ever experienced. What has happened?

HOLY **** There's 135 more in my email box now. I can't deal with this much. If this happens again, I'm going to have to shut this blog down. This is ridiculous. No one should have to remove 270 comment spam on a Saturday morning. UGH!!!! INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My guess is that it's part of the never ending cycle of the spam battle. Every wall we put up they eventually find a way around. So we put up a new wall and so on.

I'm deleting them now. Bastards.

Thanks, Pixy. That must be why I'm getting the "Cannot Be Loaded for DeSpamming" message. My God, I'm in a pissy mood because of this. GRRRRRRRRRR

Anyway, 270 spams aren't really any harder to delete than 1. Just click on the De-Spam button in MT Blacklist and it will hunt them down and kill them for you.

This isn't available in MT 3, by the way, one reason we haven't upgraded yet.

Does the despam button kill the comments too...not just add the IPs? If so, that is a lot easier.

I didn't know that about MT 3. What MT 3 DOES have, though, is the capacity to ask folks to register to make comments. That's how my husband and myself have it set up at our blog, anyway.

It's just frustrating. You know?

Yep, the despam button removes the comments. It's what I use when 100 of our blogs get hit all at once.

This time all the crap landed on just you and Tim. Don't know why.

Yes the de-spam button is a lifesaver.

Blacklist for MT3 does have a nifty feature though that sort of makes up for the despam button. You can load a list of the most recent 10/25/50/100/all comments, check box the ones that are spam and strangle them all at once.

True.

But I go in every day and despam all our blogs on MT2.

That would be really painful on MT3. I should see if there have been any updates on MT Blacklist.

Which is why I've backed off of my idea to move over to MT3 for now.

Ask me next week and I may have a completely different idea.

The next trick is to lock down some server space for podcasts...
