Pain Pain Go Away!

I've done the appropriate downgrade, so let's see if it makes things all better. :)

How do I get rid of my trackback spam? The blacklist says that I don't have any, but it still appears in my blog. (It could be residue from trackbacks that I deleted while the evil upgrade was in place.)

Not all better, yet not entirely all bad. I went to save the draft and it spit out the same error message yet saved my edited scribblings. (Were my tortured outpourings lost to the cyber-realm I would be crushed - or at the least dented.)

I haven't tried to publish yet, but if yesterday's pattern holds it will finally publish despite the error message.

Perseverence is my friend.

Oh, and Happy July 4th to you all, and especially you, Pixy, and thank you for all your efforts and care for this rambunctious yet lovable Munu.

David - Have you done a full rebuild? That should clean it up.

Debbye - Foo. I'll have to fiddle some more. Six Apart are working on a fix as well.

I rebuilt, it didn't work. (See "Latest Trackbacks" on my site.)

David--I had that same stupid "site" showing up on my manage weblog page, so I went here and clicked on despam and changed the drop down to pings, and it despammed 'em and poof! Since I never got an email notification of em, I must thank you for making me check.... ;)

Susie: I already did that, but it was during the evil leap forward. I think I half-deleted my spam, or something. It looks like the trackbacks are not in the posts, but somehow are still in my "latest trackbacks". When I de-spam it comes up empty.

Also, I just got the error again.

I was getting the error. I just did a rebuild, and now have post I was trying to save posted 5 times in a row. :)

Time to delete some.

Do we need to sacrifice some chickens or something?

:(

I don't think chickens will be enough. I think we're looking at a goat for this one.

Okay, I've tried something else. If this doesn't work, the goats should be worried.

I've just deleted about 400 trackback spams, so see if it looks better now.

I'm no expert in these things but it looks like the goats are safe and MuNu is alive again.

Three cheers Pixy Misa!

Yay! Yay! Bahhh!

Well, I discovered that in order to update/ping the postss put up during the recent insanity, it is necessary to repost them completely and delete the originals.

I have a process monitoring the system for those 500 errors, and we've had none in the past hour, so it's looking good. Fingers crossed, touch wood etc etc.

I've set CPanel to only do security updates automatically for now, until someone comes up with a permanent fix.

Oh yeah, you may need to rebuild your blog manually to clear everything up. Just don't everyone do it at the same time, or the server will go flooplik.

Yay Pixy!

I hope the goat-seller will give me a reund.

Just to be helpful, CPanel went and upgraded those modules again. I've downgraded them, again. I don't want to go back to running the server without any pretty admin tools, but I'm ready to whack CPanel with a stick.

I have a stick you can borrow...and it's a BIG stick... :)
