Tomorrow, the blogosphere will attempt to turn its sweaty keyboards for good. Hugh Hewitt challenged bloggers to help suvivors by raising funds through blogging. Instapundit then suggested a date and our beloved NZ Bear will be Tallying the Results.
I and others will be auctioning/selling items in the hopes of raising additional funds for the hurricane victims. Please join us in this global effort. Thanks!
Thanks Michele! I'll pitch in if I can, but I'll likely be tied up at work tomorrow.
Amazon is now taking donations for the American Red Cross hurricane relief operations, so if like me you have money but no time it's a good place to go.
Posted by Pixy Misa at September 1, 2005 01:12 AMreally??? I thought they weren't going to....
In any case I too will be participating tomorrow, and I have a click-through link to donate for UMCOR, the United Methodist relief org. They give 100% of your donation to wherever you want it sent, in this case, the gulfcoast....
Posted by caltechgirl at September 1, 2005 02:24 AMI wanted to sell stuff, but I don't think anyone wants the crap I have. Instead I'll be doing an all-day blog-a-thon, including matching cash donations.
Posted by Ogre at September 1, 2005 02:34 AMFolks,
Thanks for the relief efforts. Fortunately for me, I did not suffer much damage, other than the loss of two small trees. I have many friends with no power and none expected for several weeks. I have other friends who are waiting to hear from loved ones in the New Orleans area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It's weird. I now know what is meant by the term, "survivors guilt". Again, I am one of the lucky ones and it's hard to watch those around me go through so much grief and aggravation. It's also hard to watch the looters, price gougers, etc, without thinking how much fun it would be to stomp a mudhole in their ass and then walk it dry. It's amazing that so much kindness can coexist with some much evil. That is the way of the world, I guess.
Anyway, thanks for the fundraising efforts. Believe me when I tell you that it is much appreciated.
