Spam Fighting Help!!

I've spent most of this evening deleting porn spam from my blog. Didn't come from just one IP, but it all promoted the same site, and most of the IPs were registered through the same company in the Netherlands.

I am Blacklist ignorant -- so much so that I don't even know how to get into it. What do I need to do to get rid of the porn spam?

When you get the email notifying you of a new comment or trackback, there's a link on it that says "De-spam your blog with MT Blacklist".

Click on the link and follow the instructions.

Then, when you are in MT Blacklist, you can use the Despam function to remove existing spam.

Or just go here.

I don't always get that message, Pixy. I finally bookmarked the link.

I have been fighting spam all night here. I think they finally let up, but what I don't get is, does it take a day or so for MT Blacklist to work? I put in the key word only and it hasn't prevented it.

It should start blocking spam the moment you add something to the blacklist. You have to make sure you add the right something, though.

Um, and you really can't ban the word "fucking", because even though it's not appropriate for your blog, it takes effect across all of munu.

The best thing to blacklist is the domain name. So if the site is stupid.spammer.com, blacklist spammer.com.
