Spell Check

Does anyone know of anyway to spell check in MT 2.64? I tried writing my posts in Word and then copy/paste but then the post is all messed up when I paste it in to MT. Any ideas other than a dictionary??? I tried the IESpell but I am on Mozilla.

Thanks,

SR

You need SpellBound

Just hit the Installation link in the left navigation bar of that page, and follow the steps.

If you use Explorer for your browser, IE Spell works very well.

Of course, IE doesn't.

Paul: Thanks for that link... just downloaded and installed... it works like a champ - even works here in the comment section... although I couldn't find the tool bar button, a control+shift+F7 did the trick!! Thanks again!

Awesome! Works great. Thanks very much. Now I just need to find one that will fix my grammar errors. :)

Madfish: It's not a toolbar button - just right-click inside the textarea you want to spellcheck. It's on the context menu. (Though the keyboard shortcut's a good alternative - me like keyboard shortcuts.)

SR: Glad it worked for you too. As for the grammar thing, well... that's what editors are for. :)

If you are using Firefox there is a toolbar button. After the installation, if you right click on the toolbar and select customize, then scroll to the bottom of the box, there is a button with ABC and a check mark on it. Drag it to the toolbar and you are good to go.

I see a button now... it's on the bottom thingy on the left hand side, next to the icon stuff for the rest of the Mozilla Suite apps.

Not to brag or anything but OS X comes with a system wide spell check built in.

But don't worry - as soon as Apple starts selling systems with Intel chips, a version of OS X that runs on a $300 Dell probably isn't far off.

SR, I strongly advise against composing your post in Movable Type. There are weird ways that accidentally hitting a key or two or three on the keyboard will clear everything you've written. It's happened to me several times.

What, specifically, is whacked out about yer posts after copy/pasting them from Word? Just curious.

Spork,

There's actually quite a few issues. It does not allow for paragraph breaks, it just runs everything together. All of the margins seem to be out of whack when I paste it in to MT. I seem to get weird characters through out the post too.

Usually I use Notepad to write my posts as I am offline (plane or something) and I can save the post then just paste it in to MT. Word would be great because of spel check, but it is just a pain.

Yeah, don't use Word. It can be done, but it does too much formatting, and pasting from Word into a web app is asking for trouble.

Notepad or Wordpad should be fine. Or one of the many blogging tools like w.Bloggar.
