Trackbacks

I feel guilty for even posting after that last post (we're all thinking about you Mikey).

Is anyone else getting new, enormous piles of trackback spam? Pixy, is one of the pets asleep at the wheel?

And worse, when I try and blacklist them, I get

An error occurred:

Thanks for the help!

Weird. I got about 20 overnight and have seen 5 or 6 in the past 3 hours or so.

I received three TB spams overnight. Not the volume you are receiving, but never the less, spam.

I'll check it out. My trackback filter had blacklisted most of the universe, which meant no spam, but no trackbacks either. I fixed that yesterday, but...

Is most of the spam coming from Blogspot by any chance?

It's from all over...oh wait, no it's not:

IP Address: 85.255.114.130

I guess I was mostly troubled by the error I got when I tried to blacklist them myself.

I think I worked out that error - it's a holdover from the configuration I set up on the old server.

It should be fixed now.

Ummm...it's worse now. Much worse.

40 trackback spams in the last 5 hours -- but at least I can BlackList 'em now, thanks Pixy!

I take back that "nope". I'm getting a steady trickle of the bastards too.

I blacklisted about 50 this morning, so maybe it will slow down.

I'll see of I can work out what's going on. We have blocked 32,000 trackback spams in the last 36 hours, so it's definitely working, but more spam is getting through than usual. We're blocking 99%, but before we were blocking 99.8%. (That is, before it went wonky and started blocking 99.99%...)
