For the last &*^%&*$ Time

DO NOT F**K WITH THE F**KING BLACKLIST IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE F**K YOU ARE DOING.

I am damn tired of seeing this:

An error occurred:

How does one go about fixing that particular error?

I saw it earlier this morning and I'd have fixed it myself, but I wasn't sure how.

Harvey, unfortunately, you are one of the folks who is not using the blacklist properly. Before you allow the automatic process to add the links that were found in your despamming you MUST INSPECT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE ENTRIES!

NEVER, EVER allow any symbol except a single period, plus letters and numbers. There are some very specific rules for how and what to blacklist, and if you don't know what they are, you should NOT add any entries to the list.

Feel free to use the tool to despam, but when you get to the part where you're offered the chance to add the found entries to the Blacklist, just stop. Because you're adding incorrect entries (and this isn't just you by any means, it's what most of the others who are using the blacklist are doing) your additions are doing next to nothing to protect other blogs anyway.

Understand that spammers are intentionally poisoning their comment contents specifically to screw up Blacklist users. Unless you have actually studied how to use the blacklist, just don't add any new entries.

Sorry, Harvey, to answer your specific question, that error indicates that a recent blacklist entry contains either a [ or a ] bracket. Those characters are reserved for use in regexp's and if they're used in any other way, they will choke the blacklist as it tries to parse code that isn't really code.

Thanks for that Paul!

Now to set up the Minx comment system and say bye-bye blacklist...

Also note, as discussed here earlier, that another attack on blacklists is spam which contains URLs of legitimate sites. I recall seeing major search engines and random .edu pages. Don't add'em.
