I was wondering if you could help me out. How do I access my c panel account so I can do some IP blocking?
I have no idea where the info you sent me when you first set up my blog is ( I know, Linda from Auterrific already chastised me!).
Any help you can provide would be gratefully appreciated!

Posted by Old Cloots at February 6, 2007 03:33 AM | TrackBackMark, you can ban IP's from within Movable Type's admin interface - click on the Weblog Config link in the left nav bar and look for the IP Baning link top right.
Problem is, it's pretty trivial to get around an IP ban, so it's not really a functional way of blocking a live pest, and it's pretty much useless for blocking spam due to the sheer volume of IP addresses spammers have available to them these days.
Also, unless you're familiar with how large ISP's like AOL use IP addresses, it's quite possible to block a considerable number of legit users in the process.
What problem are you trying to solve with the IP banning?
