Beta Beta Beta Fraternity

How does one go about joining the super-sikret and ancient order of the Minx beta testing fraternity? I'm willing to learn the handshake, but might have to reconsider pledging if there are any thinly veiled homo-erotic paddling rituals. Rusty just don't swing that way....

It's not so that MT makes me want to claw my own eyeballs out. Fortnightly. It's more the feeling of superiority from being the first on my block to have Minx.

Minx is some sort of new robot-mounted lazer of some sort, right?

That's right, Rusty! And Minx can be yours, for the low, low price of ... nothing!

I'm doing the final tweaking, or would be, except I have to disappear for a couple of days to do some tech support work to pay the bills. Friday I'll be back, and not long after that I'll open up the beta test.

I would really like to be a part of the beta too on the theory that it would good to see what happens with it for someone who has no idea what they are doing! But unfortunately the demands on my time are too great at the moment.

The user interface and templating system are not that different from MT, so it should be easy to adjust. (Minx does have a nice WYSIWYG editor; you can see a subset of it on my comments. Doesn't work in Safari though; I'll be providing an alternative editor for Safarists.)

Having said that, while the templating system is conceptually very similar to MT, the details are different. I will be working on a converter, but I haven't got to that yet.

The big difference you'll see is that there's no rebuilding. Posts and comments update straight away - typically in well under a tenth of a second. The same goes for template changes. Tweak something and it's instantly visible.

Pixy, go ahead and set Minx up on my Skunkworks site and I'll play with it there.

While I'm not as active as some of the others I would still like to volunteer to beta test Minx. I owe mu.nu a lot for being such a great site, and I could be a great help in kicking the tires of Minx!
