One more question: how difficult will it be to move my blog to a new site? Will my old URL automatically redirect people to it? I'm getting more than a little peeved at the growing flood of comment spams. Besides, it's only a matter of time before I break the comments again.

Any help in this will be greatly appreciated. I'd even be willing to offer homebrewed beer in return. Not certain if I can ship internationally though.

It's really easy to get your posts and comments across, if you're willing to accept one of the standard themes.  The templates and stylesheets are different, so you'd need to work on that (and I'm happy to help there).

The site would actually appear at your old URL, just like Munuviana does.

Yeah, bloody spammers.  The spam is starting to pick up at mee.nu now too, but it's much quicker and easier to manage, and I can easily adapt the spam filters as spammer tactics change.  Much harder to do that with MT.

19 Hi Mark.  You should be able to log in using your Movable Type username and password.  If not, let me know and I'll get that fixed for you.

I think the reason there are only two days of posts showing on your blog is that it's configured to show the last seven days, rather than (say) the last ten posts, and that's all you've got.

Oh, and the search function, yeah.  Something broke there during the server move, I think, and I didn't get to fix it before I went away on Friday.  Back now, so it will be fixed tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply. I'm just back from vacation and, after much gnashing of teeth over the pile of comment spam I discovered, I'm about ready to make the move. I will probably need help with the stylesheets, as I kind of like the somewhat ugly look of my current blog.  However, being able to flip a switch and move to the 3-column blog I've been unable to create at my current location will be a really nice feature. Managing the comment spam will be even better. Speaking of which, would it be possible to use some sort of Turing test in Minx? Or is there a different spam eating feature within? Inquiring minds want to know.

Anyway. What exactly do I need to do? Export all my old entries and files and then import them? And do I currently have a login for the new location? Is it the one here?

What it will do instead is an RSS comment feed.  That should happen in the next update, next Sunday.

30 Its an RSS feed, but instead of listing new posts, it lists new comments.  So you subscribe to it in your favourite feed reader, and you get notified that way.

34 Well, if you use Firefox as your browser or Thunderbird for your email, you already have a feed reader.

In Firefox, you get a little orange icon in the address bar of any site that has an RSS feed.  Click on that, and it will ask you how you want to subscribe; you can subscribe to a feed in Firefox using "live bookmarks".

Or at the bottom of the sidebar here, there's little buttons, one for the RSS feed and one for the Atom feed (they work the same, basically).  Err...  except that the RSS feed is broken.  I'll have to fix that.

Also, the options section on the post edit screen is doing an auto-save, so you can't actually change the options.  When did that happen?!
