Looking at the calendar--as well as talking to the gf--I realized 9 of our ten rats has a September birthday. Pinky is one today; Kono, Metro, and Leather will be one on the 11th, Calle, Olie, and Cinammon Schwartz will be one on the 26th, and Bob and Curly, while we're not sure of the exact day, will be three this month.
Witter is the lone non-September rat. He's 18 months this month.
I'll be sure to post pix of the birthday party at Publius & Co.

Posted by: Pixy Misa at September 8, 2003 01:27 AMWhat's the gestation period for a rat? Does this correspond to some rat holiday?
Posted by: Ted at September 8, 2003 02:00 AMGestation is 21 to 24 days. Rats can reproduce at five weeks.
In human years, one rat year is about forty human. Lifespan is 24 to 30 months on average, so we're very excited Bob and Curly made it to three.
I've got to do a "What do you know...about rats" for Jennifer soon.
Posted by: Victor at September 8, 2003 02:10 AMAnd I will have a post up tomorrow that may shed some light on the September birthdays.
Posted by: Jennifer at September 8, 2003 02:24 AMMy alpha rat, Alan, made it to three years old.
Happy birthdays to all your furry babies.
hi its my rats birthday soon, i wanted to give them a really special day, as they only get 2 or 3 in their lives. what types of things should i do?
Posted by: katie at November 30, 2003 11:28 AMHello Katie. Thank you for asking about your rats.
We had a b-day party for our rats, with blueberry muffins iced with blueberry yogurt, and peas and blueberries for them to snack on. All of our girls are spayed, so the boys got to play with the girls (their sisters, for the most part). Two of our boys are alone rats, so they came out after everyone else did, singly, and got to eat their own treats afterward.
