I had noticed that the remember info worked on individual archive pages but not on comment only pages. Pylorns pointed me to this forum post and I now understand why. The comment listing template sets the HOST as the individual blog domain (snoozebuttondreams.com, etc) and the cookie is set that way. Pages like individual archives that are served from that domain name work fine. The comment only pages are served from blog.mu.nu and no cookie has been set for that domain.
Our current setup will work fine if there is a way to set multiple HOSTs in the comment listing template. Set a cookie for blog.mu.nu as well as ($MTBlogHost$).
Any ideas?
Posted by Jim at December 10, 2003 10:08 AMYou could set a cookie for the whole of mu.nu, I think, but you can't set one for mu.nu and snoozbuttondreams.com. You can only set a cookie for the domain the page came from.
Posted by Pixy Misa at December 10, 2003 12:20 PMOn the other hand, once you've commented using the comments page on one mu.nu blog, it remembers you on all the other blogs. That's why I haven't bother to change it.
Posted by Pixy Misa at December 10, 2003 12:21 PMI'm not seeing that, Pixy. I have to constantly reenter my info on same sites and different mu.nu sites.
If we try to set two cookies, one specifying MTBlogHost and one specifying blog.mu.nu, would the wrong one fail and the right one succeed so no matter where it was done one would work?
Posted by Jim at December 10, 2003 12:44 PMFor the two cookie question - yeeees, I think so, but IE might complain at you.
Mu.Nu-wide cookies work in Mozilla; I think IE may have problems. Need to check that.
Posted by Pixy Misa at December 10, 2003 02:30 PMIE doesn't like cookies if your privacy declaration isn't in order. In fact it blocks most of them by default. I don't think I've ever managed to get my remember me bit working despite my best efforts
Posted by rob at December 10, 2003 03:35 PMI don't know what's changed but now all the munu sites remember my info, and I've not changed anything that I can see.
