I'll be converting the database this weekend. Starting Sunday 2AM GMT, should be finished around 10AM GMT.
During that time, you will not be able to post, and readers will not be able to leave comments. It's Sunday!* Sleep in! Go fishing! Vacuum the cat!
Oh yes: You won't be able to change your templates, rebuild your blogs, edit existing entries, receive trackbacks, import, export... But your blog will still be readable.
Once it's all over, things should be a lot faster. Probably at least three times, possibly more.
* Possibly Saturday where you are.
Posted by Pixy Misa at April 25, 2004 02:00 AMBut what about my precious Sunday 2am GMT to 10am GMT hits? Oh, the horror. I'd better not get an Instalanche this weekend. Feeling pretty safe on that but you never know.
;-)
Posted by Simon at April 23, 2004 09:39 AMYour blog will still be up, and sitemeter will count all those Instalanches. People won't be able to leave snarky comments, that's all.
Posted by Pixy Misa at April 23, 2004 10:04 AMOK, for those of us without a clue as to how to convert time ... can you do like a rocket ship thing, where you post T minus someting?
Posted by Mr Mouse at April 23, 2004 07:45 PMWell, Munuviana is GMT (or should be... let's see)
Posted by Pixy Misa at April 23, 2004 08:04 PMHrm. Well, if Munuviana is in fact GMT, the server is running an hour fast. Pfft!
Anyway: T minus 31 hours!
Posted by Pixy Misa at April 23, 2004 08:05 PMNow I need to post a comment and then compare times...
Posted by Susie at April 24, 2004 03:56 PMHi gang:
The easiest way to keep track of this is just to doubleclick your system clock in the lower right corner of your screen, and reset teh time zone temporarily to GMT (it's the same as London England) Also, the line that list your actual time zone will show how many hours behind GMT you are. Mine for Mountain time looks like this: (GMT -7:00) Mountian Time (USA & Canada)
That means I'm 7 hours behind GMT... so I subtract 7 hours from Pixy's listed 2am Sunday time and get 7pm Saturday night. Those on Eastern time in US & Canada it'll happen at 9pm Saturday, and those on Pacific time will see it at 6pm.
Clear as mud?

Posted by Light & Dark at April 24, 2004 05:40 PMHopefully prep for the system work will go better than that commercial where the guy drops a rover off the access tower to that rocket... you know the one where he replaces it with his SUV? Too cute.
I guess we'll know things are going smoothly if no one sees an "oh sh*t" posted here or elsewhere.
