This might shock some of you, but I did something stupid. A while back I deleted the search function from my template in a fit of spring cleaning gone mad. Now I'd like it back. Any ideas on how to do that, oh wonderous people who know these things? Best would be a cut and paste code to drop in the template - you know, keeping it simple (and real).

UPDATE: while you're at it, how do you put one of those boxes that says "click here to have links open in new window"??? Like Allah has.
Posted by Simon at May 5, 2004 06:15 AMYeah, I'd like to know too. I did something I thought was clever -- I just cut and paste the search-code from Blog Slovo's site.
Works fine. I can search Blog Solvo's site from my site to my heart's content.
But I can't search my own, alas.
Posted by ace at May 5, 2004 07:00 AMyou need to pass the correct blog ID into the hidden filed on the search form.
You should be able to get MT to return this by using the <$MTBlogID$> tag or you can read it off your URL when you login to edit your blog ... it's in there somewhere.
then you should be able to use the search code from the default MT template (I would post it but it's changed in Version 3)
Posted by Rob at May 5, 2004 01:54 PMUpdate: thats PHP and cookies... I think there may be an MT plugin for it as well. Run a search. If you still can't find it I'll try and post the URL.
Posted by Rob at May 5, 2004 01:55 PMAbsolutely what Rob said: Go to mt.org and access the default templates, then cut and paste the script for the search function right from the default template. I have had to do this time and time again.
Posted by Mr Mouse at May 5, 2004 02:17 PMLOL Ace! You can search Blogo Slovo from your site to your heart's content! That is so cool!
Posted by Susie at May 5, 2004 08:03 PMRob & Mr. Mouse,
Well, I couldn't find the search code in the default templates, but I was smart enough to save my old template stuff in a file. I just cut and pasted that code into the new template, and voila!, I'm not able to search my site rather than Blog Slovo's.
Neat!
Thanks for the help.
Susie--
Yeah, it was cool. Now I'll just have to go to that site to search it.
BTW, I'm not Simon, the original poster. My problem is fixed; his, I guess, isn't.
Posted by ace at May 5, 2004 08:37 PMI managed to get it sorted out. Thanks for all the help. Next is the show/hide comments thing...
