Carnival of the Munuvians

Assuming our latest DNS burp is settling down now, I'll move on to our next special feature:

The Carnival of the Munuvians

Yes, every week/fortnight/month/other interval (delete where not applicable) we will be featuring a parade of all the best that MuNu has to offer!

Email me at carnival -at- pixymisa -dot- net with your best recent post (where the definition of recent is something I'll leave up to you) and I'll present them all next Monday at the all new MuNu portal site.

Update: The launch of the Carnival has been put off until next week - Monday the 13th of September. This gives all you slackers time to get your entries in. My thanks to the 9 people who already have. :)

:(

But it needn't be just the past week. Pick anything! Dig as deep as you need to! :D

I suppose it is good that we are not yet referred to as minutiaens. I also suppose that, if I looked hard enough, I might find somethin' worthy of showcasin' as a good example of the crap I write.

OT, but...Munuviana needs de-spammed--look at this, for example....

Suggestion: After the Carnival is up and running for a few weeks, maybe you could rotate hosting it among the Munuvians who would like to particpate... that should stimulate some cross MuNu blog-traffic and expose everybody that particpates to some new readers... but, then wtf do I know...

Madfish,
Maybe it's my own schedule/sloth, but I've found that rotating the hosting of various Carnivals hurts the meme.
It's better to know where to find it than halfta follow it around. That just makes it a chore.

I'm just sayin' is all...

And, rather than posting it at the Forum (where nobody goes), it might be better to create a carnival.mu.nu. A weekly collection of posts by those - and only those - Munuvians who, with due respect for their readers' time, submit a post.

I mean, we can't expect us all to read through 100+ entries in one sitting...
A Carnival shouldn't have more than ten entries, imo.

A weekly Carnival that restricts the submittals to the past week would be best. It would make potential respondents careful about being a time bandit, and thus, could be a good read indeed.

I'm just sayin' is all...

:)

Good points, all, but then why does everyone start a carnival and then try to fram it around? Just curious...

Because hosting the carnival is a lot of work?

I'm planning to host the carnival right on the front page of mu.nu. I think that's the best way to do it - type in mu.nu and BAM! there's the carnival. :)

I would like to get more than 10 entries at least for the first one. ;)

And, rather than posting it at the Forum (where nobody goes)

Yeah, well, the whole idea of posting it at mu.nu is to get people to go there. :)

Because once people start going there, we can get them to go to other munu sites.

All about brand recognition. :D

But the Forum is no more than a different (and more tedious) way of having a group blog. But we already have a group blog: Munuviana!
Unless you can give us a real-time chatroom I - like most of us, I suspect - am likely to continue to restrict my online time to bloggery: both reading and writing.

Chat-room!, Chat-room!, Chat-room...!

Uh, Spork, click on the Chat icon at the top of the page. ;)

Munuviana is our group blog, for us. The munu forums - which as you will see shortly, have integrated blogging - are for everyone.

The forums are not there to replace Munuviana, but to extend to scope of munu. Also, they have pengos, and we don't.

Maybe it's just my desperate need for a new prescription, but all I see is Home; Forum; FAQ; Search; Log In, and; Register at the top of the page. No chat. Please advise...

Ok, seriously--somebody needs to de-spam Munuviana. Check out the Aug 29, 2003 entry that Ted wrote called "a Couple of Questions"--there are 10 spam comments on that post alone! I linked the page a couple of comments above here....

I tried to get MT Blacklist to go back that far, but it fell over and hurt itself. :(

Hmm. Maybe if I do this...

Drat! I can't log in. All I get is:

You have specified an incorrect or inactive username, or an invalid password

I clicked "forgot my password" and got a new one... twice! It still wont let me in.
I even tried to re-register, but I can't since my name and e-mail address are already registered.
