Not sure if the error message is due to the move or if I really have exceeded bandwidth (did receive a "heads up" message a short while back).
But just in case you don't get a notification. Would ya please? When you get a chance.
Posted by Gary at September 30, 2006 11:04 PM | TrackBackYep, already taken care of.
I need to take a look at what's eating all that bandwidth though. Have you had a lot of new readers lately?
Posted by Pixy Misa at October 1, 2006 12:05 PMHmm. About 80% of your bandwidth usage is going to images. I thought it might be people hotlinking, but you already have that disabled in CPanel.
Hmm.
Posted by Pixy Misa at October 1, 2006 12:40 PMAccording to sitemeter I do get a LOT of hits originating from Google image searches. That might have something to do with it.
That and the fact that I got 23,000 hits last month. A big increase.
This time last year I was at 5,000. Do YouTube links drive up the bandwidth? I had guest bloggers during the month of August and they posted a whole bunch of them.
I can't even imagine what kind of bandwidth the Llama Butchers eat up.
Posted by Gary at October 1, 2006 12:46 PMYouTube links are fine, they use YouTube's banwidth rather than ours.
Posted by Pixy Misa at October 1, 2006 01:59 PMNow it seems so obvious, but that's cool to know YouTube links don't eat up our BW.
Posted by kyer at October 1, 2006 11:41 PMGary, it's probably the fact that even your index page (main page) is just shy of 1 megabyte in size, coupled with the higher page views, that's clobbering the bandwidth. It's likely making for a pretty miserable experience for any of your readers on dial-up too. (that's about 2 and a half minutes load time at best!)
Most of your images could be better optimised (you header graphic alone is almost 200kb) and you might want to include fewer posts to get the size down as well.
That's also a helluva sidebar
