Qumana blog text editor

Does anyone use the Qumana blog editor? I thought I'd give it a try, but when I go to configure the publisher it asks for "Host" and "Endpoint" -- and I don't know what to put there for Munuvia. This is the only direction I get from the Qumana User's Guide (scroll down to "Blog Settings" for potentially useful information). It obviously assumes a higher level of expertise than I have.

Thoughts, ideas?

Dave:

Here's my guess for what those settings would need to be:

Server: Movable Type
Host: www.blog.mu.nu
Endpoint: /mt.cgi
Port 80

Your username & password will be the normal ones for MT, and NOT the ones for your Cpanel (for some people they're different)

Worth a shot, anyway. Lemme know if it doesn't work, & we can consult Master Misa.

L&D,

Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestion, but I get an "Invalid payload received from xml-rpc server" error message.

Sorry, Dave - I got the endpoint wrong.

Leaving the other settings the same, try this for the endpoint:

http://blog.mu.nu/cgi/mt-xmlrpc.cgi

Ping me and we'll see what we can figure out. If you're using MovableType you shouldn't have to anything other than enter the URL then your username and password. Something, though, things can be a little wonky.

Tris: I tried the URL/username/password but Qumana insists that I supply host/endpoint/port as well.

Paul: I tried your follow-up suggestion and got a "Socket Error 11004" error.

Dave, just to be certain. When I list blog.mu.nu/cgi/mt-xmlrpc.cgi, I mean literally that address, not replacing the word "blog" with your blog name.

I'm assuming that's how you entered it, but wanted to check to be sure.

Other than that, I'll have to wait 'til I get home tonight to see if I can be any more help, or maybe Tris can troubleshoot from the results you're seeing so far.

Sorry not to be more help.

I'm just downloading a copy and I'll give it a try.

Paul & Pixy:

Tris Hussey of Qumana actually contacted me and cleared it up almost immediately. I just had to enter http://munuviana.mu.nu/ in the autoconfigure dialog (under Configure Publishers), and it asked me straight away for my username and password.

It works fine now. This will give me the opportunity to try out Qumana. It looks pretty good, so far, though I can't find where it would let me do draft posts without publishing them to my blog.

Thank you Paul and Pixy for so quickly coming to my aid on this. I really appreciate you doing that!

You're very welcome. Draft posts ... not quite yet, but ... you can save the file to an HTML file for later. One word of warning, copy and paste your title and tags into the body. We have a bug that keeps those from being saved properly.
