Need Help to Transfer blog

Hi everyone. Phin has been helping me transfer my blog ( to but he has a new family member and hasn't been able to help. Can anyone help me with the transfer? I can set up someone to get into my .com (mt 3.2) if there is someon that can help transfer the archives and current stuff. I'm paid up for April at the old site, but really am a dunce when it comes to knowing enough to make the transfer. If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated.

Little note for the handful of people on MT3: I've updated the system to MT 3.2. This seems to be mostly transparent, but MT Blacklist has been disabled and replaced by the built-in Junk comment/trackback system. We'll see how that goes.

Hey Everybody,

I am no longer getting email notifications when I get a new comment or trackback. I looked in CP and cannot see anything wrong.

Any ideas?

Categories RSS?

Is there a way to have an individual RSS feed for each of the categories that we use? I'd like to highlight the book reviews that I do by putting a "Latest Reviews" thing on one sidebar that would show the headlines for my latest reviews.

File Dump!

Got something you want to share? Getting into podcasts or vlogging, or want to upload some music you've written? Or maybe you're ready to unleash your own Linux distro on an unsuspecting world?

But you held off because you didn't want to use up all your bandwidth and get Pixy mad with you?

Well, now there's a solution! It's an easy-to-use BitTorrent tracker, which means that for popular files it uses a thousand times less bandwidth on the munu servers. You don't even need a BitTorrent client to use it, but you can if you prefer. The software is called Broadcast Machine, and they want to be to vlogging what... Uh, what something else was to something else.

Currently there are no files there, but you can see a working installation on my blog.

If you'd like to use it, email me and I'll set you up with an account.

Love that email!

Oh, you just gotta love checking the email in the morning:
Note the 101 entries -- exactly 9 are actual emails, the rest are trackback spam from 10pm to 7:30am EST.

I'm not complaining, Pixy, just bitching, you know? I mean, I know it's not your fault (or is it...could Pixy BE the evil spammer? No, even Pixy isn't THAT evil...) I'm just about to give up on trackbacks entirely, except I really like them, dammit.

Bandwidth Limit Exceeded

Yikes! I need to go on an "uploaded file diet" or something!

Pixy, would you be so kind as to bump me up? I promise not to be such a "bandwidth hog" in the future.

I got bored on Saturday night and decided to give Wordpress a try. Awhile back I tried it, and was not impressed. That was easily a few years ago. Now I am much more enthused about it. It seems cleaner and smoother, and the themes are better managed. Pixy, might WP be a solution to our woes if Minx doesn't pan out? Just a thought, but I for one am beginning to hate with a passion reminiscent of John Kerry the bloody spammers. Not only the comment spammers, but also the trackback ones. Blacklist seems to be faulty, and Wordpress seems to have some nice plugins to combat it.

In any case if anyone wants to see my small set-up check it out here:

I have it to where you need to register to visit the site since I am posting snippets of a book I'm working on there. Wordpress can have many levels of protection in that regard, down to having to register to post comments. Stop by and take a look!

As for the Munu shirt, can I lobby for a big shirt, cause I'm a big guy, and I do mean in the 4x or so range. If you make it, I'll buy it and show my Munu love.

And nothing vilgar people, ie Madfish! I'd like to be able to wear this in public without being trampled by family, friends, or the decency police! ;-)

Rebuilding Problem

Why, when I attempt to rebuild the entire site, do I get stuck with Individual Archives 1-100 on the counter? Is my site rebuilding? Or is there something that is preventing that from happening? The same thing happens when I try to rebuild Individual Archives -- but not any other rebuild configuration.

T-Shirts Are Cool

But, like, we could use a flag, too.

I pledge allegiance, to the flag

Of the United Blogs of Munuviana

And to the psychoses, for which it stands

One Blogdom, under God, indivisible

With liberty from spam, and Mohammed cartoons for all

Oh, man, watch the ACLU take a crap over THAT!

Google Serches

I get a huge amount of google serches for some rather popular images that I have put up over the last year and a half. Is there any way to "block" the google search as they eat up a huge amount of my bandwidth....

any ideas besides quit blogging ;-)

Call me sad...

So, looking through the SXSW convention, I see a lot of people have Blogger and Typepad gear, hats, t-shirts, that sort of thing. It sort of identifies them as bloggers, on shit hosts granted, but bloggers none the less.

Any thoughts on getting a cafe press or a spreadshirt thing going for gear - any takers?

Cos, y'know, blogging is cool and shit. Yo.

Sorry, Pixy, but I'm going to follow Rightwing Duck into WordPress Land.

Well, you don't have to worry about it, Apothegm is going to handle the technical details.

I could just shut off comments again, but my nasty troll wants exactly that. He thinks he can control my blog.

Who the hell makes fun of Alzheimer's and thinks it's funny anyway? I've done everything I can. Ignoring him, deleting him, editing him, shutting off comments. Can't ban him, he uses proxy servers.

I need the comment moderation that WP provides.

I love MT, but, due to the licensing issues, in order to upgrade I'd have to move off of MuNu.

I'd rather go back to Blogsnot. MuNu isn't just a host. It's family.

Pretty Please....

I know it's been said before, but I will appeal again--if a Munuvian does not know the correct way to add Blacklist entries, please don't!!!!!! I just had to unlist, as well as several English words that, while possibly offensive to some, might be used in comments on Harvey's or Jim's blogs.

When in doubt, don't Blacklist everything, ok?

Online shop

A fellow munuvian (the very sexy Celeste) wants to set up an online shop to sell her handmade jewellery.

I'm happy doing the web design etc, but does anyone know of any good places to get server space, or a good online shop host etc?

I see this whenever I try to send on of my MuNuby friends a TB:
MT::App::Trackback=HASH(0x8369f70) print() on closed filehandle $FOO at /home/blog/www/cgi/lib/MT/App/ line 43.

¿Que es?

MT tells me that the TB was sent successfully, but when I click back over to leave a comment or some such, I get the above thingy.

Pix? Jimbo? anybody? Bueller? Bueller?

Technical question: I recently joined the Land of MuNu. I had MT loaded but I'm not really comfortable with it. How do I swtich it out to WordPress?

Is that done through the cpanel?

If I loaded WordPress would that dump the other SQL database?

Any feedback on changing over would be greatly appreciated.

MT Notifications Not Working

I have notifications setup where readers can enter their email address to receive an email when I put up a new post.

When I write a post, I select the appropriate option and click send.

It seems that it is not going out to my readers. It is only going out to my email, and my email is not even in the list. I am hoping this is a configuration error. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am assuming that my email is the email that was used to setup MT???

Our database partition just got filled up. With log files. Which I enabled when we were having fruitcake errors the other day.

Fixed now.

This could cause issues with some of the databases. If you have installed your own copy of WordPress (or whatever) and it is having problems, email me and I'll run a repair on your database.

My blog search engine...

...done gone broke.

Actually, I never use it, and from what I can remember, it's always been broken.

Does anyone know how I can implement a new "search this site" function? I think I had whatever search code MT provided originally... perhaps I should use a Google or Technorati dealy?

Any i-clues?

Who did it?

I get this:
Invalid [] range "d-c" in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/|||,|||([\w\-_.]+\.)?(l(so|os)tr)\.[a-z]{2,}|(babes|porn|boobs)[\w\-_.]*\.[a-z]{2,}|(cialis|meridia\b)[\w\-_.]*\.[a-z]{2,}|(diet|penis)[\w\-_.]*(pills|enlargement)[\w\-_.]*\.[a-z]{2,}|(free)[_.\-]?sex([\w\-_.]+)?\.[a-z]{2,}|(levitra|lolita|phentermine|viagra|vig-?rx|zyban|valtex|xenica at extlib/jayallen/ line 3098.

whenever I comment on a Munuby site, even just the letter "X".....

Did someone ban English again?

I know it's complicated, so I don't screw with it. Can we have a place where we submit things to be blacklisted and then someone who knows what they're doing can add them in a timely fashion?

(oops-- didn't see the previous)

You Think You Got Problems

What on earth does this mean:

Invalid [] range "d-c" in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/|||,||| ([\w\-_.]+\.)?(l(so|os)tr)\.[a-z]{2,}|(babes|porn|boobs)[\w\-_.]*\.[a-z] {2,}|(cialis|meridia\b)[\w\-_.]*\.[a-z]{2,}|(diet|penis)[\w\-_.] *(pills|enlargement)[\w\-_.]*\.[a-z]{2,}|(free)[_.\-]?sex ([\w\-_.]+)?\.[a-z]{2,}|(levitra|lolita|phentermine|viagra|vig-?rx| zyban|valtex|xenica at extlib/jayallen/ line 3098.

That hurts my pretty little head just to look at it!

Update: Sorry, I broke the global interweb. I put spaces in to make it better

Update 2: Oh. And this is what happens when I try to post a comment .
